January 1 - New Year - Año Nuevo

6 January - Three Kings - Los Reyes Magos - important holiday, a day off from work. Three Kings processions in many cities. Spanish children receive gifts on December 24, but on Jan. 6.

February / March - Carnival - Carnival - Carnival preceding Lent. Processions mostly in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Cadiz and Sitges.

March 19 - Day of Fire - Fallas de Valencia - During this festival takes place in Valencia burning of hundreds of huge puppets.

March / April - Holy Week - Semana Santa - processions of hooded penitents in all major cities in Spain, starting from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, the most famous procession in Seville (see: Holy Week in Seville).
